Shallot Aphid

Overview

Shallot aphid is a sap-feeding aphid associated mainly with allium crops including shallots, onions and related species. Colonies develop on foliage and can reduce plant vigour through direct feeding and contamination with honeydew.

  • Distorted or curled foliage
  • Sticky honeydew deposits
  • Reduced plant vigour
  • Secondary sooty mould growth
