Pepper Thrips
Thrips species attacking peppers and ornamentals, causing scarring and bronzing.
Pepper thrips (including Thrips nigropilosus and related species) attack peppers, ornamentals and some bedding plants. Damage includes silvering, bronzing, scarring and distorted growth, particularly in flowers and young leaves. Biological control relies on predatory mites such as Amblyseius swirskii and Transeius montdorensis, and Orius bugs where flowering is present. Early detection and higher introduction rates are needed where pepper thrips are established.
