Steinernema feltiae

Steinernema feltiae

Type

Entomopathogenic nematode

Target pests

Notes

Applied as a drench; excellent for fungus gnat larvae control.

IPM positioning

Soil entomopathogenic nematode; applied curatively against sciarid larvae and soil thrips stages.

Best deployment strategy

  • Apply as a curative soil drench when sciarid larvae or soil thrips stages are present.
  • Ensure good irrigation before and after to keep substrate uniformly moist.
  • Avoid tank mixes that harm living organisms; apply via clean lines where possible.

Compatibility notes

  • Works well with: Stratiolaelaps Scimitus / Atheta Coriaria (predators provide continuity; nematodes provide curative reduction).
  • Avoid: practices that dry the substrate rapidly after application.

Environmental preferences

  • Highly dependent on substrate moisture: keep evenly moist before/after application.
  • Performs best in moderate temperatures; very hot/cold conditions reduce efficacy.
  • Avoid UV/desiccation during application.
